Tell us about yourself! Who are you? Where are you from? What do you do? What inspires you to travel?
Hi, I am a solo traveler from Manchester, I have recently just graduated in Tourism Management. I am originally from London. Indulging into different cultures and people are my main reasons to travel, as I am always intrigued by how different every destination is from the people down to the way they live life.
How do you make frequent travel your reality?
I have adapted to making travel a part of my reality due to studying Tourism Management at both College and University. I envisioned making it apart of my long-term career path. This all started out by taking small trips at a time.
What is the biggest life lesson or self-realization you've learned as a result of travel?
I learned that waiting on others to book a holiday will have you waiting a lifetime. Sometimes it's okay to take a solo trip. Since becoming a solo travel influencer, I have continued to take solo trips to share my experience and encourage others to travel solo with the use of my social media platform.
Congratulations on your recent move to the USA! Of all the places to be an expat, what drew you to the US?
Thank you so much. I had always envisioned that I would spend my late 20's in another country. Though due to studying, I wanted to wait until I graduated. The US has always caught my eye and in regards to moving, I wanted to have a change in atmosphere and adapt to a new community. As a traveler, I continue to travel to find my place where I will settle.
Where did you go for your first solo trip and what was the driving force behind your traveling solo for the first time?
My first solo trip started in Barcelona, I was in between Costa Brava and Barcelona for 9 days. Prior to this visit, I went to work in the USA as a camp counselor though I do not count that directly as a solo trip because I was surrounded by others. My driving force behind traveling solo was wanting to learn to spend time alone, as you can never spend "Too much time alone". Solo travel allows you to be open-minded and figure out who you are. I believe this does not always have to be on a trip, this could be from going to a spa retreat alone or your local coffee shop. But having days where I have time alone is what allowed me to continue to pursue solo travel.
Where else can folks find you?
I can be found on multiple social media platforms such as TIKTOK and Twitter all with the same username: @aimeestravel
