1. Tell us about yourself! Who are you? Where are you from? What do you do? What inspires you to travel?
My name is Antwanesha Robinson from Houston, Texas. I am a single mom of 2 beautiful kiddos. Growing up in a single-parent household, I prayed for more days when mom didnโt have to work so much, but I knew she had to be away often because she was the sole provider. Unfortunately, my dad went to jail when I was three and continued to go back and forth once he did get out. Growing up, we moved house to house, so I never had a chance to make long-lasting friends, and I remember constantly changing schools. This caused me to struggle with my self-worth, and because I felt so alone, I began looking for love in all the wrong places. I ended up getting into this abusive relationship where I became dependent but knew I was destined for greatness, so I found my escape. After gaining some sense of self-worth, I wanted to make sure my babies knew that certain things were not ok, and I was determined to create a better life for us. As I became more independent, I still felt unsatisfied going back and forth to work. I felt like I was missing out on watching the kids grow. More and more, I started to feel like I was trading time for money. I became very discouraged living paycheck to paycheck, trying to keep my head above water with the cost of living steadily rising. I became very depressed and desperate to find a way to provide for my household but also be able to spend more time with the ones I love. I decided to change my mindset despite my circumstances. I needed a change and wanted to challenge myself! In 2016 after having my daughter, I began my journey of self-healing. I booked my first cruise as a solo traveler. It was a 5-day cruise with one of the destinations stopping in Cozumel island. I met some friends on the cruise, and we paid for a day pass to one of the resorts listed as an excursion. The experience was definitely one to remember. It was from that moment I knew I was meant to travel the world. Little did I know that the experience would lead me towards finding my passion.
2. What is your favorite thing about owning a travel business?
I currently work a 9-5 in corporate America doing health and insurance by day and running my travel business part-time after work and on weekends. It feels good to have a company with a legacy tied to it. In the event of my death, my income from this business is passed down to my children and my childrenโs children. Owning my own travel business has expanded my mind and way of thinking. I have gained so much self-development. If you love to travel and want to turn your passion for travel into profit, I highly suggest you find a host agency with low initial investments, low to zero overhead, no ceilings on the amount of money you can make, and full training.

Iโve always been a storyteller. Thanks to my brother and my dad. My dad is an avid reader, so to get my brother and I to develop the habit of reading, we would spend our Saturdays at a library. As part of our Saturday library ritual, my brother and I were required to check out a book, read it throughout the week, and narrate the story to our dad during our next Saturday ride to the library. My brother hated reading and was also a slow reader, but as the older sister, I still got the heat when my brother failed to complete his reading. To save my brother and I, I began choosing his books and doing his readings. I would read the books and summarize the story, making it as short as possible yet providing him with as much detail as possible to create the illusion that he had read the book since my dad sometimes asked random questions to double-check if we read the book. Unfortunately, my brother never developed an interest in reading, but he did gain a profound curiosity from hearing my rendition of books I read. He started picking his own books at the library because he wanted to listen to my summary and the little twist I would add to make him remember important plots. Fast forward to 2022, I still use the same approach to tell my travel stories and make people interested in places and adventures that they would have never considered.
4. Who inspires you most?
My dad and Jessica Ufuoma. They both have proven without a reasonable doubt that having a full-time job while traveling is very much achievable, and itโs beautiful to have people who have succeeded in things you intend to do to learn from.
5. Share with us your favorite hidden gem you've come across.
One of my favorite hidden gems Iโve come across is the Little French key. Itโs a remote island in Routan, Honduras. You have to take a water taxi to get there, but there is soooo much to do on the island.
