1. Tell us about yourself! Who are you? Where are you from? What do you do? What inspires you to travel?
My name is Caritza Schoot and I'm from Curacao. I am 38 years old, and a mother. I work as a Supervision Officer (Regulator) at the Central Bank for almost 13 years now. My inspiration for travel goes way back. Since I was a young girl, I wanted to know about the world I live in, other cultures, traditions, and languages. When I became a mom, I made a promise to travel with my son every year to show and teach him about other countries.
2. How do you make frequent travel your reality?
I prioritize travel. I live a minimalist life. I do not go on shopping sprees and neither do I own things that I don't need. I save for travel and save my vacation days for travel.
3. What is the most underrated destination you've been to? What should more people jump at the chance to go?
Up until now, it's Japan. I think it's a beautiful country with such kind people, but most travelers don't have Japan on their list.
4. How do you choose where you're headed next? Do you have a bucket list or do you choose based on flight deals?
I have a list of countries that I want to travel to. I don't chase deals :)
5. If you had to stay in one place forever, which destination would you choose and why?
It's so hard to tell. I haven't been to Africa yet, so I'm afraid to name a country now without going to all the other countries I want to visit first LOL. But I must say if I had to stay in one destination I would stay in Dubai. Why? I was fascinated by that futuristic place, and all that luxury, oh my.
