Welcome to Travel Crush Tuesday!

We'd like to introduce you to Chloé Diamani, a 32-year old traveler from Canada. In 2013, Chloé made the leap to teach English in Korea and since then has been traveling throughout Southeast Asia. Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Malaysia, Cambodia, Indonesia, the Philippines, and more... this beauty has seen it all.

Keep reading to hear more about her traveling adventures and take a peek into the life of a travel blogger.

What do you love most about travel?

What I love the most about traveling is being out of my comfort zone and being immersed in a completely different culture. I love seeing how people in different countries live, what they eat, what they like to do. I believe travel is essential for the soul (or at least it is for mine).

What’s been your favorite place you've traveled to?

There are so many places I love, but I would have to pick Italy. I spent a month there going from city to city. It was one of the best experiences of my life. I have always wanted to go to Italy since I was in elementary school and it lived up to my expectations. The country is stunning, and the food was marvelous!

How has travel affected you on an emotional or spiritual level?

Traveling, especially as a solo black female has made me reach deep inside and reflect on so many aspects of my life. I believe that traveling is another way to discover so many facets of your personality and being. Traveling helps me center myself, it helps put my life into focus. After coming back from a trip, I always feel a sense of gratitude for where I am at present in my life, where I came from and all the possibilities the future has to offer.

Are there certain things POC should keep in mind when traveling abroad?

Yes, absolutely. Sometimes, you may be the only POC around at any given moment. Get comfortable with that. Keep an open mind. Do not let it hold you back from getting out and exploring. Talk to people. Being uncomfortable sometimes allows you to grow, and sometimes allows you to have amazing experiences. Also do your research about where you are going, to ensure your safety.

How would you describe your travel style?

I would say that I enjoy cost-effective luxury. I do not mind staying in higher budget hostels if I am traveling alone and would like to meet people. I do not mind treating myself if I feel like I need it. I also like a mix of adventure and downtime. I will plan an activity every other day and the rest of the time, I will spend it relaxing.

What’s your favorite travel hack?

I had to learn this the hard way because I am low-key a hoarder, but the best travel hack is to bring only a carry-on. You do not have to spend time checking luggage or waiting for it when you land in your destination. Even better, it does not ever get lost since it stays with you the entire time.
