This week we welcome solo traveler @female.bourdain into our ranks of TCT's. The very mysterious @female.bourdain, gives us a peek into her life and travel journey. Keep reading to get to know the woman behind the instagram.
Tell us about yourself! Who are you? Where are you from? What do you do? What inspires you to travel?
Hello, I am @female.bourdain hailing from Miami, Fl. I was raised in Central Florida and have lived in Harlem for a spell, as well.
In my family, Iâve always been the standout person: the âwhich of these is not like the otherâ so I kind of always knew I needed to venture out to find my people. And I was right!
Living in NYC gave me a small appetizer of other cultures and people so itâs right to go straight to the sources of those cultures! While I am a late bloomer on the travel front, I can say it has brought so many amazing people to my life. So many amazing experiences and cultures and knowledge. I am my most happy and authentic self when I am traveling and doing my own thing with no plans or cares in the worldđ
Tell us about your most cherished travel memory? Why was it so memorable?
There are honestly so many special memories that sometimes I forget! I scroll through my pictures and itâll remind me of an awesome day I had or a funny story from that day or trip.
But! My most memorable travel memory was.. leaving some of my motherâs ashes inside of Jesusâs tomb. Iâve been and I can report, Heâs not theređHappy Easter, saints!
But really, as that was my intended goal for my trip to Israel, I really think my mom was on the other side orchestrating the most amazing trip of my life. I had waaaay too much fun. Israel still remains vacation #1â¤ď¸

Great question. Iâm not much of an âexcursionâ or âtouristyâ type of traveler. Usually adventures just fall in my lap and theyâre usually with random locals Iâve met along the way.
One thing every trip must include, though: horseback riding. Itâs a must! Not only do I absolutely love horses, riding a horse and getting the (very intelligent and independent) animal to do what I want it to requires me to release tension and focus on the task at hand. In the end, Iâm usually releasing tension from work or personal dramas which is such a great feeling.
To those looking to travel but are scared to book that flight, what would you say to them?
Life is short, just do it. Just fucking live man. (Can I curse? Cause that really how I feel it lol.) Iâd also say that we humans around the world are a lot more a like than we realize. We all just want to be accepted and heard. I added Bourdain to my ig name because even before traveling, I would just listen to people, ask them questions about themselves, their life. And end up having a 3hr+ conversation full of belly laughs. Iâve had this same experience traveling to places (SOLO) that CNN would never approve of.
How many countries have you visited and which destination was your favorite? Why is this destination your favorite?
Not a lot at all. I think only 15. I mentioned Israel being my favorite. My second favorite would probably be Italy? Ha, Italy was greatđ I met some amazinggg people that I still keep in regular contact with and I ate some BOMB ASS FOOD!! It took me a year to lose the Italy weightđŹ
