Tell us about yourself! Who are you? Where are you from? What do you do? What inspires you to travel?
My name is Matilda. I am a travel content creator based in Canada. Traveling is an incredibly enriching and fulfilling experience that provides a chance to explore new cultures, meet new people, and see the world from a different perspective. Whether it's visiting famous landmarks, trying new foods, or simply immersing yourself in a new environment, there's always something exciting and rejuvenating about travel. The opportunity to escape from your daily routine and gain new experiences is a wonderful way to broaden your horizons and gain a new appreciation for the world around you.
How do you find fun excursions and activities while on vacation?
Airbnb experiences is one of my favorite ways to find fun and affordable activities while on vacation. I love that most of these are hosted by locals rather than these bigger international tour companies, which helps to support the local economy.
Mexico, Cuba, DR, El Salvador. Flights tend to be shorter and more affordable, and both the Canadian and US dollar go a long way. Accommodation and food are also affordable.
What's the most interesting or surprising fact that you learned about a country that you visited?
I was very surprised to learn about Hawaii’s Royal history, specifically the black ancestry of the Royal Family. From King Kamehameha to Queen Liliuokalani, each Hawaiian ruler was very dark-skinned with Negroid features.
What's the most magical travel experience you've had? Share the destination and an itinerary that others can steal.
Morocco was one of the most magical destinations I’ve travelled to.
Here's my 6 Day Morocco Itinerary:
Day 1 Bahia Palace - closes at 3pm Secret Garden Medina/ Souks/ Jemma Elfna Square Dinner on a terrace
Day 2 Hammam Spa Mosque Majorelle Gardens - closes at 5pm Explore and Dinner in M avenue
Day 3 Agafay Desert overnight Ride Quads Ride camels Chill by the pool Sunset dinner and show
Day 4 Day trip to Casablanca
Day 5 and 6 Travel to Chefchaouen
What's a travel hack that everyone should know about, but not enough people do? What are the benefits of this hack?
The best travel hack everyone should know is that you should take pictures of your luggage and your belongings in it before you fly. This is helpful in case your luggage is stolen or damaged, or items are missing from it.
