Tell us about yourself! Who are you? Where are you from? What do you do? What inspires you to travel?
Hello my Name is Robin and I’m form St. Louis Missouri. I’m a Mental Health Case Worker, working with adults and children with mental disabilities by day. By night, I’m a travel agent and travel designer. What inspires me to travel is to learn and experience new things. Another key motivator is my want to show the world that Black ppl are capable of traveling and seeing the world. I want to show members in the Black community that they don’t have to be rich to see the world, it can all be done on a budget; it's just a matter of planning and making it priority. I also want to show curvy girls that we too can travel the world, and be free within ourselves.
What is your motivation behind curating trips for curvy women?
What motivates me to curate trips for curvy women is providing a platform to get my Black curvy sisters out of their shells and to see the world and providing a space for my curvy sisters to travel together if solo travel is not their thing.
What is the best destination for curvy girls to go and why?
I would say some of the best places for curvy women to travel to are Jamaica and Barbados! The locals love our curves. It is the bigger the better in these places. The men prefer to admire a woman who is confident with her size and dresses to flatter her curves. Some also see a heavier woman as a good cook who knows how to feed herself and her family, and will be able to satisfy a family . Living with curves in these places has a connotation of being comfortable and content with yourself.
How do you make frequent travel your reality?
I’m able to make frequent travel my reality by making it a priority in my life. Although I work a 9-5, I budget travel into my monthly expenses. If there is something you love to do, you always seem to find a away to make it happen. I do the same for travel. I make it important, like a necessity .
What is a travel hack that everyone should know about but not enough people do? What are the benefits of this hack?
A travel hack that I feel that others should know is that you are able to put your travel expenses, like plane tickets and accommodations, on payment plans using apps like Klarna, Afterpay , ZIP Pay , and Affirm. All of these apps allow you to pay for your trip on a time table and in chunks in a way that is more accessible. The apps allow you to travel without having to pay for everything upfront.
Where else can folks find you?
