This week we interviewed travel entrepreneur and content creator Taliya on all things Travel and Slay. Ladies go ahead and get your notepad ready because she's spilled the tea on everything from how to look good on the road to negotiating airbnbs.
Did we mention she's an insta baddie!? Don't say I didn't warn you! After you're done here, head over to her insta @travelwithtaliya for more of Taliya.
You're hair and make-up are always on point! How do you do it?
Thank you! I suggest traveling with a small makeup mirror that includes a light because you can't trust hotel bathroom lighting haha! For my hair, thank God for Cantu and Shea Moisture products -- & curly hair diffusers for your blow dryer! (Always make sure you have the correct voltage blow dryer for the country that you're traveling because mine exploded in Bali at my quarantine hotel, whoops)
What is the most underrated place you've been? Why should people jump at the chance to go?
100% Nicaragua. I spent 3 weeks there backpacking all around the country and surrounding islands and had the time of my life. You can find everything! It was also the most affordable country I have ever traveled to! Plus, the food was phenomenal. Some of the best I've ever had!
What has travel brought to your life?
It has brought me so much motivation to create more of an impact on the world, to bring more value, and to never stop trying to create the life I've always dreamed of. It's so hard to imagine doing XYZ when you've never experienced it, but now that I've experienced so much --- I know exactly what I want out of life and how to get there.
Share with us your best piece of travel advice?
Negotiate with Airbnbs/Vrbos/Tours & all things travel! It's very easy to get a highly discounted rate if you know how to negotiate and pitch correctly. We got our $20,000 a month mansion in Bali for $6,000/mo solely off of a quick Airbnb negotiation.
How did you prepare yourself to take the leap and move to Bali?
Before moving, make sure that you research what you can't find in Bali and order it (in bulk) before you come. My biggest problem right now is black hair care/products! I packed a lot with me, but eventually I will run out and then I will be forced to keep a protective style in. Also, I suggest coming with more of a budget than you originally planned. There's so much to do here, and you're going to want to do it all. Yes, it's more affordable than the USA, but things will add up QUICKLY when you want to start exploring more.
Where else can folks find you?
You can find me on my YouTube channel @ TravelwithTaliya https://youtu.be/pLbnOohB0cQ . My first video is my moving to Bali vlog which shares the behind the scenes of getting in during this time, as well as the cost of living. I will be posting more cost of living videos, travel vlogs, insider travel tips/hacks, and more! I also own a group travel company, T World Tours, so you can find me on @tworldtours if you want to join us on one of my trips! https://www.tworldtours.com/
