Introduce yourself and provide us with a little background on your relationship.
On the surface, it seems like an ordinary love story. With our universities separated by seven minutes of commute time, our paths were destined to cross. What started as a friend request on Black Berry Messenger (sent by Shana), evolved over the next 8 years to see almost every stage of a relationship including:
- A Friendship
- A Just Talking(ship)
- An ""It's Complicated(ship)
- A YouDoYouAndI'llDoMe(ship)
- A Long Distance Relationship
- Couple Goals
- And Now Married!
The power in our story is not necessarily in the initial meeting but in the journey that has brought us to this moment. During our long-distance period, time together became the most valuable asset. In order to maximize the time spent together we made an emphasis on creating experiences and living in the moment. From climbing the Grand Canyon (where Nloh ripped his pants) and bamboo rafting in Jamaica to sailing the coast of Majorca. This is what inspired us to travel!
Were you both avid travelers or did one person's passion for travel become a shared passion.
Nloh was the first to fall in love with travel as he had the opportunity at an early age to explore his curiosity of other cultures. At age 11, Nloh travelled to his home country Cameroon, a trip that would forever change his outlook on the world. When we first started seriously dating, Nloh made sure that travel was a key component of our relationship. He would arrange surprise staycations and would even make a quick road trip across the Detroit bridge into Windsor, Canada to eat at our favorite Italian restaurant, Spago's. Nloh's favorite destination he's been to is Greece, a destination we plan to visit in the next two years.
Travel has been able to push us as a unit out of our comfort zones. It has helped us grow spiritually, culturally and created moments where we as a couple and individually have been able to expand our perspectives of the world around us. Most importantly, it has allowed us to take a pause from our busy lives to focus on ourselves and recharge.
What is your advice to couples about to travel together for the first time?
Our advice to other couples who are traveling for the first time, is to always remember the "why." No matter if the trip is to discover the world or discover yourselves, never lose sight of what made you two choose to engage in that experience, then let that purpose guide you through the trip. In addition to, setting expectations for what you both want out of the trip so you can plan accordingly.
Congratulations on your baby! How has pregnancy affected your travel plans? Will we be seeing family traveling pics in the near future?
We are overjoyed to be expecting our baby this Spring! Since traveling has been such a significant part of our relationship and how this baby was conceived ;-) Both of us see the value in exposing kids to the world at a young age. So, we plan to continue to travel and bring our baby along. Instead of only posting our couple pics, look out for our pics featuring our new bundle of joy

I’m Veronica and my husband is David. We met in 2011 in South Florida at a point in our l lives where we were both in transition. We both graduated from our respected programs and we’re out celebrating the night we met. We’ve been together for 11 years total and we’ve been married for five and this July will make it six.
Has travel had an effect on your relationship? If so what was the effect?
Travel has helped us grow strong. When we travel we are able to see a different side of each other. Travel also allows us to spend time together away from our traditional jobs, away from our comfort zones and our routines. It takes us to a different environment which we typically both enjoy.
Do you and your partner have the same travel style?
We have similar preferences when it comes to travel compatibility. We both enjoy experiencing local cultures, food at different destinations. We both enjoy adventure, relaxation, beaches, local culture, food and ancient sights. For example we traveled to Egypt last November and we both thoroughly enjoyed visiting the monuments. Typically on vacation we enjoy eating local spots, discovering local breweries and distilleries, searching for local art and discovering hidden gems.
What is your number one travel hack when planning a baecation.
I think it’s when your partner has flowers or roses or something nice delivered to the room.
If you and your partner had plane tickets anywhere where would you guys go and why?
If there were to travel somewhere all expenses paid we would travel to South Africa.

We met on August 24, 2019, at the Standard downtown in Los Angeles, California. It was actually my brother’s birthday (he lives in New Jersey). We were not supposed to meet so it really felt like fate. He was already at the standard earlier and left his cell phone there, so he had to go back. I didn’t feel like leaving the house that day. I even cancelled plans that I had with friends earlier that day. Somehow, I allowed myself to get talked into going to the Standard DTLA for happy hour. As soon as I stepped on the elevator, I saw him. However, I was not in the mood to be bothered so, I didn’t say anything. My friend saw him too and instantly attracted to him, so she tried to talk to him. However, he was interested in me. We spent the entire night talking and getting to know each other. He even asked me if I believed in love at first sight. When I asked him why, he replied, “you’ll see.” A year later, he proposed to me, and we got married on 9/25/2020.
Share with us the first time you and your partner traveled together.
Our first trip together was a month after we met for his birthday. I am a travel junkie, and he was just starting out on his travels. I decided to take him to Puerta Vallarta, Mexico for his birthday (9/25). For me, it was a test to see if I can really be with this person I fell hard and fast in love with. For him, it was a chance to travel and start to see more of the world with the person he fell in love with. We had an amazing time! We did several excursions, relaxed on the resort, experienced amazing, authentic Mexican food, and really enjoyed each other’s company. What we learned about each other was the following: • We both learned that we can definitely travel with each other • He learned that I knew a lot about travel, more than the average person (his words not mine) • I learned that I was definitely in love with him and that I couldn’t wait to travel more of the world with him
The perfect baecation is one where both parties get what they want out of the vacation. There is a lot of affection being displayed, and the romance is high. Most importantly, being with bae, no arguments, and realizing that the time you are spending with your significant other, is time you want it to last forever.
What is your number one baecation destination and why is this destination at the top of your list?
Puerta Vallarta, Mexico is our top baecation destination because it was our first trip together and it sealed the deal for both of us.
What is the baecation activity that every couple should add to their itinerary?
A sunset cruise. It is beautiful and romantic.
What is your advice to couples about to travel together for the first time?
Do not pre-plan the entire trip. Set aside some time to explore together without anything planned. These are usually the best adventures.
