Globetrotting worldwide is exactly what we imagine a flight attendant would be doing, and Bria is no exception. While her travel journey did not begin there, she has definitely turned it into a lifestyle and we are crushing on her for it!
Tell us about yourself! Who are you? Where are you from? What do you do? What inspires you to travel?
Hi! I'm Bria, born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts. I'm a Travel Influencer, Independent Travel Agent for Global Travelher, and Flight Attendant for a major airline. I'm heavily into the travel industry, and I love it here.
I've always enjoyed traveling. I enjoyed taking road trips with my mother and siblings as a child. When I was sixteen years old, I stayed with a host family in Malawi, Africa, to help with community service. After this life-changing experience, I knew I wanted to see the world.
In college, I was able to study abroad in multiple countries. Fun fact, I lived in Jordan for two months in 2019; it was an experience I will never forget. What inspires me the most is being able to see the world while documenting what I do and sharing it with others. I appreciate meeting new people and immersing myself in different cultures worldwide. There's nothing better than traveling outside the country, hanging out with the locals, and eating fresh cuisine. Every time my passport gets stamped, I get excited because it's a privilege to travel the world. Not everyone has the luxury, and I'm incredibly grateful that I have it.
Do you prefer solo traveling or group traveling? Why?
This one is tough to answer because I enjoy both, but I love to travel solo more. I enjoy waking up at any time of the day, choosing what activities I would like to do, and sometimes not having a set plan or schedule. Nevertheless, I love to be spontaneous. There were times when I booked solo trips last minute and went with the flow, and I was able to meet amazing people and build lifelong friendships. That's the beauty of solo travel. Solo travel has also shaped me in many ways, and every time I travel alone, I learn something new about myself! It has given me peace of mind. When solo traveling, I even discovered that many people gravitate toward me. It seems as if people are less shy to talk to me than they would be if I were in a group setting.
What kind of travel do you like planning more? Group travel or solo trips?
I love planning both group travel and solo travel trips. Group trips challenge me at times because I work independently. Seeing my clients enjoying themselves on their trips is what makes me happy. Planning trips without a travel agent can be stressful for some, so it's nice to know that I can assist them in the best way possible.
Furthermore, I like planning solo trips because most of my solo travel clients are first-time solo travelers. I experienced what it's like not having any help planning my first trip alone, and I can relate to the first-time solo travelers on so many levels. Hoping trips go as planned can be stressful and exciting at the same time.
In addition, I like being able to support my clients throughout the booking process and their journey. Hearing about all of their unique experiences is what makes me love booking their travel as well. It's a feeling I can't describe, but knowing I can assist them and give them as much assistance as possible is well worth it.
What is the best-hidden gem you've visited? Why should people jump at the chance to go?
The best-hidden gem I've been to is Grutas Teluntango, located in Hidalgo, Mexico. It's about a 4-hour drive from Mexico City. I recommend staying overnight because there's so much to see, and staying one day is a tease. They have hotels and restaurants on-site, literally all you need. The only issue you may encounter is that they don't have the best service and Wi-Fi. You wouldn't need your phone while there, except to take a few pictures and videos. When I tell you this was probably the best hot spring I've ever been to so far, it is. You'd be amazed if you went there yourself, the views are incredible. You'll see a ton of warm infinity pools with mountain views. They have a beautiful waterfall cave that is so warm inside you wouldn't want to leave. There's even a sky-blue river flowing through the property. I didn't even mention that you can go zip lining there too! Everyone should get a chance to go because it's a unique experience and probably one of Mexico's most popular places. If it's not on your list, add it to your list and thank me later.
As a flight attendant, what's the trick to getting upgraded to first class?
I'm not sure how to get upgraded to first class as a flight attendant, but I'd guess and say that you may want to consider becoming a loyalty member for any major airline and earn points/miles to use for future flights or upgrades. The more you fly, the better.
