Welcome to Travel Crush Tuesday!

Meet Ryann, a travel nanny and an early childhood educator from Inglewood, California. This beauty loves to travel abroad and has high hopes of making a difference in the world.

Keep reading to hear more about her travel adventures and inspiration.

What's been your favorite place you've traveled to?

My favorite place I have to have a two so far, I have to be the Philippines! I haven’t seen all of the islands, however, I enjoyed swimming with Oslob sharks in Cebu, Philippines.

What's do you love most about traveling?

I love the connections I make with locals when I travel! The food, the food, the food!!! Lastly, the thrill I get when I travel alone! It was always a fear of mine to be homeless, or to be in a different country or state by myself! I have conquered that fear long ago, and have been presented with so many opportunities, and experiences that I wouldn’t change for the world!

What are you passionate about? What sets your soul on fire?

I am most passionate about early childhood education and Child Development, with a focus on social and emotional development with children of color. Another passion of mine is mentorship and adolescent outreach. From personal experience, I believe exposure outside of our direct environment promotes success within our youth. I am always handing out educational resources, from my own experiences, and from those I’ve been taught along the way! If it were not for me being a part of a lifestyle that was opposite from my childhood, I would not be traveling, or be half the person I am today!

Who's your biggest role model?

My biggest role model would have to be my Fiance, Vernal.
He is the most resilient person I know, through all of which he has experienced he has been my reason for staying strong and literally making the moves I make! He encourages me to always walk in my calling and to remind me favor God grants me every day. However, My biggest inspiration would have to be Actor, producer, and writer, Issa Rae! She is a successful product of her environment, and she doesn’t fold! Women like her give me the courage to stand up for people within my community, and to never forget where I came from!

What are some goals you're hoping to achieve in the next few years?

I will become the first African-American child development theorist! With the support of my colleagues, family, and friends I should be able to create a curriculum that caters to children of color. But also creating a curriculum that caters to educators who teach children of color. I also plan to own my own preschools that teach with my within philosophy, which has some regiment of great pioneers in my field such as Magda Gerber, Becky Bailey Jr., and Dr. Maria Montessori! Notice, though, these women have paved the way for Child Development Educator and so forth, none of them considered the complexities within creativity and development that most children of color face. I need to have a safe space for educators who want to make a difference within their community and the children in it! As a professional Nanny, I also plan to have a service that supports nannies, and protects them and their rights! I also plan to visit 5 more counties post COVID!

With traveling more, I am introduced to different cultural dynamics between children and adults. I personally would like to visit the Congo in Africa, to assist with the development of my philosophy. The Indigenous culture has been preserved and I’m sure I could learn the mysteries of unsystematic education and the benefits it grants upon its people.
