We know the last month or so has been challenging and given stress and angst of being inside we wanted to inspire and give a taste of what will come again. So we're highlighting some of the most beautiful, interesting, and unique travelers in our community. Their photos hopefully give us a little taste of that travel lifestyle we love and encouragement that once the world heals, we can go out there again and explore.
This week's featured crush, travel enthusiast turned travel specialist Victoria, has been wowing us with her beautiful shots from abroad. As an iFlyYouth Program Director and Founder of Venture With V, LLC, Victoria loves helping people experience amazing trips all over the world.
Below, Victoria shared insight on her favorite destinations and her best tips for traveling on a budget.
What’s been your favorite place you've traveled to?
Thailand & Peru are my favorites, but honestly, it's so hard to choose. There is no other place in the world like Thailand- the people are incredibly nice, the food is amazing, the islands and beaches are gorgeous, and the parties are the liveliest I've ever experienced. Whereas Peru is overflowing with activities that any outdoor lover can appreciate. Peru is so diverse its mind-blowing! One day I was on the beach in 90-degree weather and literally the next day I was in high above the clouds hiking a snow-capped mountain.
What do you love most about travel?
Being able to see this beautiful world God created first hand and experience it for myself, and all of the priceless memories that I create from traveling, and no one can take them away from me.
What was your experience like the first time you traveled abroad?
The first time I traveled abroad was to Lagos, Nigeria and it was INCREDIBLE! My trip to Nigeria changed my perspective towards other cultures, and it made me aware that there is a disconnect between what is real and factual versus what is portrayed in mainstream media and how that can influence and affect our personal views towards traveling abroad. Nigeria was a life-changing experience for me and one of the reasons why I decided to create a travel blog-Venture with V, and ultimately it was the foundation for me moving to China and transforming my travel blog to a travel consulting business, catered to guiding others on trips around the world.
How would you describe your travel style?
Adventurous Fancy Backpacker with a dash of luxury! When I travel I want to see it all, do it all, or as much as I possibly can, and the most efficient way for me to do that is by backpacking. It's hard to lug around a suitcase when you're island hopping or traveling to a different city every 1-2 days so that is why I prefer to backpack, catching buses, sleep at inexpensive Airbnb's, hostels, or hotels, and interacting with locals all while saving money along the way. However, by the end of my trip, I'm usually ready to just relax and enjoy the luxury of that country so that's when I use the extra money I saved while staying in inexpensive places to splurge on a nice resort.
What’s your secret to taking such gorgeous shots when you travel?
The secret is my man Ross, he does all the work for me honestly. He looks up locations where we're about to visit that helps him get the perfect vision when it's time to actually take the picture. He's always making sure I'm on point during a picture and pushing me to step out of my comfort zone. All of my pictures are taken mainly on an iPhone 11 Pro, but I have used a Sony a6000 and a GoPro.
What’s your favorite travel hack?
The Chase Sapphire credit card is my favorite travel hack! If you travel at all I highly recommend this credit card. Before applying for the sapphire I had limited knowledge about the correct way to use a credit card and I wasn't too keen on paying a yearly fee, but in my opinion, the Chase Sapphire is the best travel credit card and the ultimate travel hack out there. The travel points from this card paid for 95% of my 11 day trip to Peru (including roundtrip flights and tour of Machu Pichu). It also gives me free access to exclusive airport lounges that provides me with free food, drinks, charging stations, and even places to sleep, and that right there can save you hundreds. **
